27th St. and Wells St.
Sourced $2.5m of commitments, including $1m of our own, for Concordia 27, a $20.2m mixed use project on 27th and Wells, in the heart of that key Near West Side commercial corridor. With additional support from City and County grants, developer Rick Weigand (Ambassador Hotel among others), is redeveloping several long vacant buildings to house a community center for the Milwaukee Center for Independence, Scaling Wellness in Milwaukee, Fruition MKE, and the Near West Side Partners on the 1st floor with 33 units of affordable housing on the upper floors. MCFI’s expanded kitchen will serve as a training and job center for those with disabilities while providing 1000s of meals each day for others including the City of Milwaukee school lunch program. Ultimately provided $2m to pay contractors while waiting for grant reimbursement.
